Questions
Everything you're probably wondering
If your question isn't here, send it over — we answer within one working day.
Why compare with Save My Utility?
The short answer for each thing we review, if you're weighing us up against doing it yourself.
Why compare business energy with us?
Business energy isn't sold like domestic energy — there's no published tariff table to read off, and the rate you're quoted depends on your consumption, credit position and the day you ask. We go to the whole panel on your behalf, on the day, and show you what came back alongside the commission we'd earn.
Why compare business connectivity with us?
Package names tell you almost nothing about whether a line will hold up when your card machine and your VoIP handsets are both busy. We spec the connection around your site count and actual bandwidth need, then compare carriers on the SLA rather than the headline speed.
Why compare waste & water with us?
Water retail opened to competition and most businesses never moved, so they're still on a default deal with a collection schedule nobody has looked at in years. It's the least glamorous line on the overheads sheet and often the easiest one to cut.
Why compare merchant services with us?
Card fees are charged as a percentage of everything you sell, so a small difference in rate compounds quietly all year. We read your existing statement, work out the true blended rate you're paying, and compare acquirers against that number rather than against a sales quote.
Switching, in general
The questions we get asked most often once someone decides to look properly.
What does Save My Utility actually do?
We compare business energy, connectivity, waste & water and merchant service contracts across the whole market, negotiate on your behalf, and handle the paperwork end to end. You stay with the same physical supply — only the contract behind it changes.
What does it cost me?
Nothing upfront. Suppliers pay us a commission when a contract completes, and we show you that commission before you sign anything. If a deal doesn't beat what you're already on, we'll tell you to stay put.
How do you make money?
Commission from the supplier on contracts that go live, disclosed to you before you commit. It doesn't change your rate — the price you approve is the price that goes to the supplier — and it isn't higher for one supplier than another in a way that would steer our advice.
How long does switching take?
A quote takes minutes once we have a recent bill. The switch itself typically completes in 4–6 weeks, because suppliers work to standard industry transfer windows. You don't need to do anything during that period.
Will my supply be interrupted?
No. Switching supplier is a billing change, not a physical one. The same cables and pipes feed your premises and nobody visits the site. You won't lose power, water or connectivity for a moment.
Can you help if I'm mid-contract?
Yes. We can secure rates up to 12 months ahead of your renewal date and hold them until your current deal ends. That's often where the biggest savings sit, because you're buying before the market moves.
What if I've got several sites?
That's normal for us. We'll consolidate the meters onto one review, line the end dates up where it makes sense, and quote the portfolio rather than each site in isolation — which usually prices better than doing them one at a time.
What do you need from me to get started?
A recent bill for each utility you want reviewed. That gives us your meter numbers, current rates and contract end dates — everything needed to quote accurately without guesswork.
